Victim Safety

Safety Tips

If you have been thinking about leaving the person who abuses you, you may want to put some important things together in case you have to leave quickly. Keep these items in a bag or backpack stored at a neighbor's, at a relative's, or in your car.

  • Driver's license or other form of identification
  • Birth certificate and health records
  • Money
  • Credit cards and check book
  • Health insurance cards
  • Car and house keys
  • Medications
  • Social Security card
  • Restraining order
  • Citizenship papers if applicable
  • Several changes of clothes, but no more than one suitcase per person
